The problem that I'm encountering with sorting is a fairly obvious one, and it has been out there for years. Do people not use MS Access, or do not sort non-key values in the tables? As I've only had a couple of reply posts on the messages I put up, and no one has any real solutions at present. One thought is, does it only happen with Informix-SE and most other people are using On-Line?
If anyone out there does use MS Access and Informix ODBC, and has a solution for Sorting on values within a query in Access using a linked table, please give me a yell. What gets me, is this problem has been around for years, and neither MS or Informix have come up with a fix as far as I can see.
Cheers
Miles

Hello All! I'm using MSAccess and ODBC (Informix CLI 2.50) with Informix OnLine 7.31UC2. I have linked tables from Informix database. I haven't encountered this problem before, but after reading your mail I tried this situation and got the same error 309. I'm trying to use snapshot and dynaset type of query but this doesn't help. If you find out something please write about it. Karmen Miles Roper <mroper@coasthealth.co.nz> wrote in message news:3A7736C0.EDC6AC26@coasthealth.co.nz...
Hi Karmen,
Heres all the information I have at present. None of it promising :o(
* Few people seem to have had this problem, either because they don't sort stuff or don't use MS Access i'm not sure.
* There is a work around with a intersolv driver, but the driver is an older one and there are some problems with it
* It doesn't seem to happen on keys
* Looks like its the poxy way MS gets access to phrase ODBC SQL, they use some stupid way that no one else seems to uses (typical)
* Crystal Reports and every other product I've encountered seem fine
* From what you say it happens with On-Line as well as SE
* Happens with all previous versions of CLI as well
If being trying to find a solution to this problem for a couple of years now, this is the first time I've tried posting on a newsgroup. Hello All!
I was reading manuals yesterday...
select table1.col1, table1.col2
from table1
order by table1.col3
is not possible and produces error 309. It is matter of SQL syntax. You get
this error in Informix dbaccess, in MSAccess (linked tables + ODBC) or in
MSAccess (ODBCDirect).
