ontape restore on IDS 7.31

I am trying to make a restore using the ontape utility, but before end the first tape the system fail with the following message: "Physical restore failed - buc_fe.c : Archive API processing failed at line 740 for msgtype. Program over."

Hi, this means that the ontape utility did not understand what the IDS server was saying (during the conversation between the two while the restore is ongoing). Unfortunately, the message itself does not tell much more. :-( The reason (root cause) of the problem is not visisble from this message. Check the IDS server's message log (MSGPATH parameter in the onconfig file). It is possible that there is more info on the problem in this file.
