Clarification on ONBAR restore sequence..
Posted in 2003
Hi
I would like to clarify regarding the ONBAR restore.
I want to perform an alternate client restore. The backups are serial whole
system backup using "onbar -b -w -L 0".I have the ixbar file which contains
only the recent level-0 entries. Assuming that the RESTARTABLE_RESTORE is
enabled, i perform the physical restore with "onbar -r -p -w" and the
database comes to "Fast recovery mode".
At this point, i wanted to restore a subsequent level-1. So i will be either
replacing the ixbar.0 file with another ixbar that contains level 1 entries
or an ixbar which contains both the already restored level-0 and the new
level 1 entries. I now start again the restore "onbar -r -p -w" since there
is no specific command to restore only level 1.
The whole issue is that I can take the level 1 backup from the source system
only towards the end time of level 0 restore on the alternate client.
Hence I will not have the updated ixbar (level1) entries during the level0
restore. Hence i got to replace the ixbar and hoping to kick off only level
1.
1)Will ONBAR restore only the level 1 ? or Will it go back and restore
level-0 followed by level-1 ?
2)Will it restore only level 1 if the newly replace ixbar file contains
only the level1 entries ?
Your suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated.
