Is it just me...?
Posted in 2017
A user reported that Informix 12.10.FC9DE on macOS became unresponsive after running for a while, returning -908 errors, something that hadn't happened on FC8DE. Suggestions included tracing the client, telnetting to the server port, checking onstat output for failed connection attempts or server-side misbehaviour, and checking firewall/port settings (a cause seen on Linux). The poster never reported back with diagnostics, and the thread drifts into jokes and an unsubscribe request, so no resolution is recorded.

Or is 12.10.FC9DE on MacOS X really, REALLY unstable? It runs for a while after I bring it up, but eventually it stops responding and I start getting -908 errors. This has only started happening since I upgraded from FC8DE. Any thoughts?
No MacOS here... but try to do a strace (or equivalent) on the client... Or a telnet to the server port and see if it connects... Maybe it's just some weird issue on the client side? Regards. Any onstats? -908 would indicate the backend couldn't even be reached via tcp, so might not be part of the problem. Any signs there of (failed) connection attempts? Would it stop responding on already established connections too? Any signs for server side misbehaviour? I encountered with this error on the Linux environment and it related to firewall and/or the port number. So check on your Informix port. Let's go GreenThis email contains 100% recycled electrons.
