Check:
1. You have /etc/termcap file and it is readable by informix
2. Check your INFORMIXTERM env. variable.
3. Check you have in /etc/termcap an entry for your
terminal
And the variable for terminal name is TERM (not TERMINAL).
set TERM=vt100
export TERM
