I am interested in using your dostats.ec program to run Update Statistics on my database tables and indexes. To that end, I downloaded utils2_ak today from the IIUG web site. The download created a WinZip file called utils2_ak. Using WinZip, I tried to unzip this file. I got the error, "This archive is not in the "Zip" format. This version of the Wizard works only with Zip files. Please click 'Back' to select another archive or 'WinZip Classis' to work with this archive". So I clicked on 'WinZip Classic', select the utils2_ak. archive, and clicked on 'Extract'. This created another file util2_ak and its file type is File. How do I use this file? The bottom line is, I would like to use your dostats.ec utility to run automated Update Statistics on my Data Warehouse. Any help is appreciated. Platform: IDS 7.31 UC2 on AIX 4.3 WinZip version 6.3 SR-1 (926) 32-bit on Windows NT Thanks, Uday Marichamy ------ =_NextPart_001_01BEE434.AA761ACC Content-Type: text/html Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

<META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3DUS-ASCII"> <META NAME=3D"Generator" CONTENT=3D"MS Exchange Server version = 5.5.1960.3">
dostats questions

Art Kagel,

May I ask a question to you?

I am interested in using your dostats.ec program to = run Update Statistics on my database tables and indexes.

To that end, I downloaded utils2_ak today from the = IIUG web site. The download created a WinZip file called utils2_ak. = Using WinZip, I tried to unzip this file. The file is NOT a WinZip file. The standard for Repository files is Shell Archive which is what utils2_ak is. On AIX you can simply run: "sh utils2_ak" or make the file executable and run it. Art S. That is, it has the extension .Z and was created with the Unix compress program. If you download it from a browser (preferably onto AIX), you should be OK. If the file is legible (try "file utils2_ak"), then it should be a shell script. You can type "sh utils2_ak" and it will unpack itself. If it is saved as utils2_ak.Z, then you can either use uncompress or gunzip to decompress it, and then run it as a shell script. I downloaded the file earlier today; my Netscape automatically did the decompressing for me. I'm not sure why, but it was useful. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
