I find it extremely annoying, to be honest. To me, when you do an accept, it should take the data that's on the screen and dump it into your variables. That's what the users THINK is going to happen. Having to manually get them all is (a) a pain in the ass (b) error- prone, and (c) defeats some of the purpose of having a "4"gl, it's a reversion to 3gl techniques. My advice to Informix, to stay competitive, is to take the list of feature suggestions Jonathan Leffler has (I'd suspect this is on it) and *implement* them. It's a damn fine list, coming right from the heart of their user community.
