No it's not for all occasions and there are better, but it's out there if you want to go the shell route, and are needing options. Check out mk_isql and mk_menu. There's also a book out called "Downsizing to UNIX", which I got through a book club a while back. The author has a Menu Program Generator as part of the book/disk pkg. ( Steven C. Glines : ISBN 1-56205-074-5 ) Be careful with his install, whichassumes root--and we all know about "assume". I almost chucked the book till I tried out the menu maker. It's not bad, and might just fit the bill. It generates very standard C programs and then compiles them into menus. At the very least you will be introduced to raw/cook I/O with stdio, which is something I could've learned earlier on in my career. You can order the book thru New Riders Publishing 1-800-541-6789.
