Duplicating a Database

We are in the process of splitting off a portion of our business which will continue to be processed utilizing our Informix system. As a result, we are creating a second database for this business which will run under the same instance of Informix. My question is, what is the easiest way to keep these two databases in sync while development and testing is going on and then allowing them to be two separate databases once this new business starts going on line. It's important for the 2 databases to be identical until the cutover date at which time they can and will start diverging.
