GLS connectivity question

I recently recieved 7.31.UC2 with the GLS int'l language supplement and setup my instance. I can easily connect to it from a remote server running version 5.04 by adding an entry to the sqlhosts file. If I try to connect from a remote server running 7.24 I get error: 23101: Unable to load locale categories Is it possible to connect from a server running version 7 w/o the GLS supplement? Alan
