Recruiter ports - standards - last chance for comment

In regarads to having recruiters post with a standard format which allows those of us who do not care to killfile the messages. If there are no complaints or better suggestions I will propose to Kerry that he add the following the the FAQ. I will also post it to the group and the netcops amongst us can save a copy and gleefully mail it to any recruiter who breaches the rules. After all there's nothing like a mailbox full of notes telling you you messed up to enforce compliance..... Recruitment posts on c.d.i. In general it is ok to post job announcements or requests for candidates to fill a position in this group. After all at any given time some small percentage of us are seeking employment elsewhere. At the same time there are quite a few people who are not looking for work who find such posts annoying, especially since they receive all posts to this group through their mailbox and have no desire to pay extra to download them. Currently we see from 6 to 20 such posts a day. Therefore we ask that you follow certain guidelines in these posts, to wit: - Restrict such posts to Informix specific jobs. We may have some Oracle converts, but these are very sensitive to that name and are apt to fly into a rage and break things when they see posts for Oracle jobs in this group. After all, this is comp.database.INFORMIX. If you have a job request that relates marginally to the group 'some SQL knowledge desired' - then you would probably be better of posting to alt.jobs.misc or some such. - Consistently identify recruitment posts in the subject line. Please specify that it is a JOB or contract OPP(ortunity), the location, the skill set most desired, and a job title if possible, e.g.: 4GL JOB - P/A - Tampa/FL Online 6.13 OPP - DBA - London, UK esql/c JOB - Cairo, EG(ypt) This will allow those of us who are not currently on the market to filter out such requests. At the same time such a subject line will attract candidates who are interested to actually read the post. - Be aware that posts to usenet expire after a while, BUT GENERALLY NOT 4 HOURS LATER! In other words please do not repeat posts on more than a weekly basis. cheers j. _____________________________________________________________________________ Jack Parker - Hewlett Packard, DMD/IS Boise, Idaho, USA jparker@hpbs3645.boi.hp.com _____________________________________________________________________________ If anything can go wrong, fix it.
