Re: Log backup on /dev/null

Hi Jean,
As per your mail, your parameter value for LTAPEDEV is /dev/null, you
cannot take a restore from /dev/null, no backup is done if you use this
value for the LTAPEDEV, unless and otherwise you have a tape backup you
cannot recover your logical logs after you have done a "oninit -iy".
A backup tape is must if you want to recover the logical logs, after the
reconfiguration using "oninit -iy" this means that if you want to have
logical log backups now onwards(the old logical logs are lost already you
cannot recover it!).
please change your LTAPEDEV = /dev/rmt02 (rmt02 is only an example
actually it is your tapedevice name) and start taking logical log backups
on a tape, whenever a reconfiguration is done please recover it from logical
log backup tapes using
"ontape -r".
Hope this answer will help you,
Krishna Prasad
