I don't recall seeing your original post, so I am probably missing some important details. However, keep in mind that when you use NIS, if you add new services, you must then inform NIS of this fact. In the YP days, you used ypbind (which would essentially force YP to reread the services file, adding any new entries it found there); I'm not sure what NIS uses. You could just restart NIS with the new services file, so anything you've added would then be in the NIS database. Dave
