Yes, I think it was a bug. I've encountered it before. The actual "erroneous event on select" was an HP problem (I think) related to sockets, but the fact that OnLine then spit the error message out every second (or more) until your file system filled up, that's an Informix bug. I think it's fixed in 7.21+, but I wouldn't swear to it. I can't really remember whether we worked around the problem by using SHM connections instead of sockets, or whether it was moving the NETTYPE to CPU from NET (or vice versa). Anyway, it was something that only ever happened once, so it wasn't possible to say with certainty that this fixed the problem.
