I didn't see any mention of a session being in a critical section causing the long checkpoints. Run this query against the sysmaster database during the long checkpoint: select username,sid,pid,is_incrit from syssessions where is_incrit = 1 If it returns any rows, that session would be a likely cause of the long checkpoint.
