Client SDK architecture

Hi, I'd like to know more about the architecture of the Client SDK. e.g.: In case the Windows port the C++ interface is built on the COM, but how is working on other ports? (Was the COM chosen because of the Datablade API?) How the server part of the COM connect to Informix server? At the lower level, is the connection uses ODBC or ESQLC?
