oninit -r

We wrongly issued an undocumented command "oninit -r" in a production instance. Now the system is in Checkpoint state.. You can put your LTAPEDEV variable in "/dev/null" on the onconfig file and try again the oninit. You can try to bring it online with onmode -m. If that fails, I would shut it down or failing a normal shutdown kill it and restart it normally. The oninit -r is used internally be ontape and onbar to start the engine to a pre-recovery point after the rootdbs has been restored and wait for the restore to complete. It was actually waiting for an onmode -m to begin fast recovery and complete the startup. Likely there is no harm done as in recovery mode like that the engine doesn't write anything to disk.
