Fw: Re: Un-understandable Error Message
Posted in 1998
We did an upgrade 2 weekends ago which involved an upgrade to I4GL as well. We would get this error on any 4ge that wasn't recompiled under the new I4GL. Recompiling solved the problem. In our case the issue wasn't that INFORMIXDIR was wrong or that the environment was wrong (they were still the same), it was just incompatible versions of the 4ge's. --- On Fri, 31 Jul 1998 08:58:49 -0700 (PDT) Jonathan Leffler <jleffler@informix.com> wrote: On Fri, 31 Jul 1998, Beleckis, Robert J (Bob) wrote: > Please explain the implication(s) of the following message received when > executing a .4ge program compiled under 6.05 UD1: > > "Please install an INFORMIX-4GL Run Time Facility and run this program again." It means the program refuses to run and won't work unless you change the environment, either by installing the INFORMIX-4GL Run Time software (basically, the error message files) as the error says, or by installing an I4GL development licence, or by changing the INFORMIXDIR to point to where one of these two products has been installed.
