Re: Company thought DB2 will be better than Oracle.

Hi anyone who's interested in my two bytes, I am no happier about IBM buying out Informix than anyone else is, but the possibility of takeovers (friendly or otherwise) by larger, deeper-pocketed companies is -- like it or not -- a part of our "free market" economy. If IBM's eventual purpose is to use Informix as a corral in which to herd up new DB2 customers, there's not a lot any of us can do, unfortunately. BTW-- in case anyone hasn't heard this one already: Ques: What's the difference between God and Larry E ? Ans: God doesn't think he's Larry E. --John 202-502-2599 (or x 2599) Obnoxio The Clown <obnoxio@hotmail.com> Sent by: owner-informix-list@iiug.org 09/15/2003 01:36 PM Please respond to Obnoxio The Clown To: informix-list@iiug.org cc: Subject: Re: Company thought DB2 will be better than Oracle. I'd hardly describe the actions of a team of professional carpetbaggers who had been in charge for a couple of weeks before they set this in motion as representative of the employees, customers, partners and other players in the Informix game. It would be roughly akin to Larry buying out PeopleSoft, flogging off the bits to Siebel and then having third parties say "It was PeopleSoft's decision to sell themselves off..." -- "C'est pas parce qu'on n'a rien ' dire qu'il faut fermer sa gueule" - Coluche sending to informix-list
