We do not find this a problem - we run a product called TeamMail by
ICL/Fuiji and this requires a lot of shared memory/semaphores.
as long as enough are configured to handle both products we get no
problems.

I have found thsi when on my Online Admin course at Informix. I'm not
sure why this is. I start each online instance in turn i.e. do
...... ......
oninit NOT oninit &
...... ......
oninit oninit &
i.e. wait for one to finish startup before starting the next one so
that you do not get two starting in parallel.

look in /etc/inittab and check when happens when you go to each run
level (man init).
