Extents Monitoring

Hi, We are using IDS 11.50.FC3W1. I would like to know what is the correct method to identify the number of extents allocated/remaining for a particular table / index ? Does the page size effect the calculation for the extents ? Is there any relation between index and extents as well? DO we allocate any number (or default) of extents for index as well ? Regards Kasi
Detached indexes are their own partitions with their own independent extents, so that's not an issue. However, attached indexes are included in the table's own partition. In addition, the keys for attached indexes are recorded on that partition's header page and that reduces the space available to record extents. Yes, since the extent list has to be recorded on the partition header page, the page size will affect the maximum number of extents that a particular table can have. Doubling the pagesize roughly doubles the number of extents as well as doubling the amount of data that can be stored in those extents. The formula is detailed in the Performance Guide. Art Art S.
