I'm sure this has been asked before, but can't find it I am running on 64bit Solaris 9/10 with a 64bit port of IDS (7.31.FD7/9.40.FC5) is there any real benefit in using the 64bit CSDK? Currently the application is compiled with 32bit and apart from keeping everything consistent I'm looking for a quantifiable benefit so the developers will take notice and start changing to a 64 bit CSDK Regards Colin There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't

Also if you plan to develop UDRs in C.
And your application can allocate and use memory larger than 4 GB. :) Regards, Martin -- Martin Fuerderer IBM Informix Development Munich, Germany Information Management informix-list-bounces@iiug.org wrote on 01/20/2006 01:29:41 PM: > Colin Dawson wrote: > > I'm sure this has been asked before, but can't find it > > > > I am running on 64bit Solaris 9/10 with a 64bit port of IDS > > (7.31.FD7/9.40.FC5) is there any real benefit in using the 64bit CSDK? > > Currently the application is compiled with 32bit and apart from keeping > > everything consistent I'm looking for a quantifiable benefit so the > > developers will take notice and start changing to a 64 bit CSDK > > > If you develop apps in fx ESQL/C and want to use shared memory connection to > IDS you have to use 64 bit version.
