I believe you are referring to the X/Open XA Specification which was adopted in December, 1991 as a Common Application Environment (CAE) Specification by X/Open. This specification defines the interface between a Transaction Manager and a Resource Manager (like a database) in the X/Open Distributed Transaction Processing environment. I believe that Informix, Oracle, and Sybase have announced support of this standard. Thus, they will work with any Transaction Manager product which also complies to this standard. TOP END, the transaction monitor product from AT&T/NCR, complies to this standard. (BTW, when I say "standard" I am referring to the official version supported/adopted by X/Open, not the April 1990 Preliminary DRAFT version that _some_ TP monitor products tend to call the "standard". ;-) Much was changed between April 1990 and December 1991.)
