having the myschema.source.ar i unarchived ( ar -x myschema.source.ar )
then uncommented out the hp variables in the myschema.mk file, then ran
the make so:
make -f myschema.mk and got this hit -
Make: Don't know how to make myschema.ec,v. Stop..SUFFIXES:
the top of the make now looks like this -
.SUFFIXES: .ec,v .c,v .h,v .eh,v .ec .c .eh .h .o
VPATH=.:./RCS
CFLAGS=$(CDFLAGS)
CFLAGS=$(CDFLAGS) -Ae # For HP
CDFLAGS=-O3
CDFLAGS=-O # For HP and other systems that do not have
-O3
CC=gcc
CC=cc # For HP
ESQL=esql
INFORMIXCC=$(CC)AR2_ARGS=-c -g # For ar2 to produce a clean System V style
archive
#AR2_ARGS=-c -d # For ar2 to produce a clean BSD style archive
#AR2_ARGS=-c -i # For ar2 to produce a clean ar2 style archive
AR_ARGS=-rcv # For ar to produce a clean local style archive
# To use a local version of ar either comment out the next 2 lines or
change.
AR=ar2
AR_ARGS=$(AR2_ARGS)
i left the variables for HP to overwrite ( replace?) their non-hp
incarnations...
what do i do for my HP 10.20 to compile correctly. and what is the ,v
anyway???
Hi.
If you do not know what the ',v' suffix is you are probably not using
RCS the Revision Control System for version control. If you read the
myschema.README, that is why it is there after all, you will discover that
there is another makefile, myschema.mk.norcs, which does not contain the
RCS dependencies. Try that one.
You should probably comment out the non-HP versions of the DEFINES also
different versions of make handle multiply defined DEFINES differently and
I'm not sure which version you will get otherwise. Of course if it is
working for you then IIABDFI (if it ain't broke don't fix it) applies.
The ',v' suffix is added by the RCS utilities to the name of the source file
to create the name of the archive (or delta file) when a file is checked
into RCS initially.
