Thanks to all the people who sent their copies of wy50 and IBM3151 termcaps to me. I was very happy to find out everyone is using the same termcaps I was. And confused because everyone said " we're not having any problems". The long and the short is that what Informix Technical Support and IBM both swore was an Informix Termcap problem for the last 2 months was actually a 4GL bug. Description: Start with a screen field with a Picture ATTRIBUTE, Do an INPUT on the field fail some validation routines and use the ERROR statement, then use the NEXT FIELD statement to make the user *try again*. The first new character will not be displayed in the field (although it will be there after leaving the field). Sometimes the first character will be displayed *somewhere else* on the screen and sometimes just disappears. This also happens with *certain* combinations of ATTRIBTUTES and VERIFY. the Informix Bug Number is: 31890 Thanks again to all who helped me keep my confidence and force Informix to admit to a bug and take responsibility to fix it.
