ontape problem

Hello, on a SINIX 5.23 System, with Informix OnLine 7.2x we have following problem using the ontape application: we use the output of command 'ontape -r' among others to check, wether the inserted tape contains an informix backup of a given date (used as a backup label). If so, the header information is printed, and you can quit without a problem, informix stays "On-Line". If not, informix complains about the tape, then you quit, and you see informix "Shutting-Down". Is there a way, to prevent informix "Shutting-Down" in case you inserted wrong tape (this change of mode cannot be permitted for our application) and run 'ontape -r'?. Is there an other way, you determine the date of a backup (except reading it hand-written on the tape-label)? Thanks in advance! Tamas Posa tamas.posa@sysdata.siemens.at
