DB access from multiple server permission problem

I have two servers running Informix 7.31. Some new code was written to access a database from a different server. It only works if I add that user to the Unix system. Is there a way of opening up the database to allow anyone to access it without the user being setup on that server. I have tried grant connect to public on the server but it did not help. Thanks Gary Quiring
No ... the user must have an account on the server. Informix validates the user id / password with the OS. -- Jay Aymond Community Coffee Gary Quiring <garyq@emcosales.com> wrote in message news:jOFVOmnwmYhVbKWPoRh8S3DaWA8K@4ax.com... > I have two servers running Informix 7.31. The best you can do is create a UNIX user account that is NOT loginable (ie no password) and place the remote host in that user's .rhosts file in its home directory (yes the account needs a home directory but you can limit its disk usage). The user will then be able to connect to the database without the USER clause ONLY and will have no other access to the server. Art S.
