It sounds like a bug, but we need to know a good deal more before
deciding. For starters, which version of OnLine or SE are you using?
On which platform? Which o/s version? If it is a GLS environment
(7.2 or more recent), which locale settings are you using? If it is
an NLS environment (6.0 through 7.1x), which locale settings are you
using?
Can you reproduce the problem using a simple SQL script along the
lines of:
=09CREATE TEMP TABLE mismatches
=09(
=09=09...
=09);
=09INSERT INTO MisMatches VALUES('...');
=09...
=09SELECT * FROM MisMatches WHERE ...;
If so, post it with the other information requested above. If not,
we're left wondering why it is only in a bigger table. Have you run
database integrity checks (secheck or oncheck) recently?
