Informix equivalent to Oracle's OCI

Hi Informixers, what is Informix's equivalent to Oracle's OCI? I may need to port a program to the Informix world that accepts SQL statements over a network connection and passes them on to the database engine. The program is written to work with an Oracle backend using OCI. ESQL/C seems not to be the right product (unless I'd try to use dynamic sql or prepared statements). What does Informix offer here?
