Transaction logging

It seems we've a strange problem here. We are running Informix Online Dynamic Server 7.1 on HP-UX 9.05. All runs well. But when we turn (buffered) logging on, it seems the HP halts sometimes. When we turn it off or shuting down the OnLine Server the machine didn't crash. Many of the databases using crossreferences between each other and we also use a connection to a 5.x server (HP-UX) running I-Star. Maybe there is something we've still to configure... any ideas?
