Again with my 2 cents: 1. It would be assumed you are not connecting to NT as in "telnets". I am currently working with a CRAY (SunOS) that has over 300 users and uses on average 1.5 GB of memory, with an average use of 4 MB/user, using Elizabeth Sutos' book as a guide. These are telnets, so the overhead would kill NT, probably at 10 users, even with a lot of memory. NT is piss-poor on memory management, and is slow compared to UNIX. 2. You didn't mention what kind of users, i.e. telnet or ODBC. If you were connecting via ODBC, my guess is this is untested water. 3. NT is supplied from ONE vendor. If it breaks or gets upgraded, <gulp> and it doesn't work, what is your per-hour cost in down time for the system to get back on line? Can you call somebody else who has this same set-up and see how they like it? Call Microsoft? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! 4. Stick with UNIX and have at it. I wouldn't bet a data warehouse on NT for ANY reason. You might pilot test it after getting a UNIX platform in production. Of course my guess is you already bought the hardware, bought NT, and now are going to proceed with NT no matter what. It'll make a killer web server after the data warehouse project goes under... :-) Good luck! Tim
