Hello all, Basically I am after some feed back on this version 7.30 of the Online engine. ie Any problems or horror stories. I have been keeping an eye on this news group but have not seen any postings. Any Information will be grateful. Thanks Alex
So far, no observable problems with IDS 7.30.uc7 on HPUX 10.20. (First day of KAIO on production system.) We've been up and running for several months with 7.30UC5 on two HPUX 10.20 servers, and occasionally (less that once a month -- and mostily the busier of the two machines) it just mysteriously dies. Informix has been looking at the problem, but it is so occasional that I'm not concerned ( it's about ten-thousand percent better that the 7.22 version we came from). It always comes right back up when it fails. All and all I've been very pleased with this release. Go all the way to 7.30UC7 (or even 7.31) as the UC7 release fixes a bug in buffer flushing between checkpoints that has caused some performance issues for some users. Art S. Kagel

We have had 7.30.UC3 in production since last November on 3 Solaris machines. We have had two crashes due to a known memory bug which re-started with no problems and two instances of assertion failures which the engine cleaned up itself and never went down. The only performance problem we have had is that during the logical-log offload (using OnBar), memory paging goes thru the roof and end-user performance suffers noticably. We solved the problem by allocating a large (1gb) non-res segsize. We found out that all logical log buffers get shuffled thru the memory segments and Solaris was paging like crazy keeping up.
