SET EXPLAIN PLAN

Hello, I am using SET EXPLAIN ON before executing any query to see the cost of the query, but it is not generating any output file. Im using data studio editor. I tried SET EXPLAIN TO <'path/filename'>. how to generate set explain plan can you provide the steps please Thank you.
This is definitely an RTFM moment, but here it is:
SET EXPLAIN FILE TO 'filepath';
SET EXPLAIN ON;<query>
SET EXPLAIN OFF:
Without the SET EXPLAIN FILE TO command the query plan is written to the
file sqexplain.out in the user's home directory on the server if the query
is issued from another host and in the user's current directory if it was
issued on the server's system. This all assumes that you have write
permissions on the appropriate directory.
