Connection Error
Posted in 2008

Hi Guys,
I trying to connect to informix database with a specific user name. No trouble
if I do it using login and password before I run dbaccess utilility.
But, when I tried to do it using the connect option of dbaccess, and typing
user name and password, enginne gaves me the follow message.
listener-thread: err = -952: oserr = 0: errstr = informix@erpln: User
(informix@erpln)'s password is not correct for the database server.
I told you that I´m using a specific user name, but the result is the same
when I use informix user, and I don´t know why.
Anybody ?
Thank a lot,
André Luiz

Andre, is the database that you are trying to connect to on the same machine
that you are logged in to?
If the instance is on a different physical machine, most likely what is
happening is that in the first scenario, since your account exists on both
machines, you are using trusted authentication.
In the second scenario, you are passing a password over to the machine that
the instance is on that is not correct. To verify this, try to log into (if
allowed) the machine that the instance resides on using the same
login/password that you passed in the curses based DBACCESS utility.

I got two Informix instances in this machine. The question is "why do I
connect easily get logged at OS level and execute queries and I can´t do it
using dbaccess connect option?"
Thanks
