Greetings all!
I've installed IDS 2000 on my PC and am trying to get a dbschema of a
database on a remote UNIX machine running v7.31 and I get the following
error:
> -206 - The specified table (informix.sysxtdtypes) is not in the database.
> -111 - ISAM error: no record found.

I figure this is because dbschema for IDS 2000 works a little
differently from dbschema for IDS7.31. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Yes. I'm not convinced the 9.2x DB-Schema should fail simply because it
is run against an older database server, but that's a separate
discussion. In the 9.x family of products, there are user-defined
types, and the sysxtdtypes (system extended data types) table stores
that information. If it doesn't exist, the database is a good
old-fashioned 7.x or earlier database.
It's a bug of sorts; I'm not certain that it would be accepted as a bug
by Tech Support, as it depends on whether DB-Schema 9.x is supposed to
work against 7.x servers or not. In my book, it should. The official
rule book may read differently.

Camille,
it's not necessary for you to have IDS running locally on your machine to get
the dbschema of a table running on another machine. Simply telnet into that
remote machine and execute dbschema from there. The error message you're
getting is because it seems you're running the dbschema on your local PC which
contains no records of that table on the unix machine.
