The only problem I can see with a Linux port is unrealistic pricing from Informix. At $200 to $400 per user, a Linux port just won't attract any serious usage. Some development sites maybe. But no small business! Price it as $495 for unlimited (or even less than 16) users and I would seriously offer it to my clients. There is a real vacuum in the marketplace for a low cost real database product. But my hopes for reasonable pricing from Informix have driven me back to the xBase world unfortunately.
