Is this the best way ? } } Please excuse my ignorance on the subject as I am an Informix newbie. } } Thanks in advance. } } G.D.Madan } ------------------------------------------------------------------------- } SGS-Thomson Microelectronics, | Phone : (65) 4821411 Ext 5496 } 28 Ang Mo Kio, Industrial Park II, | Fax : (65) 4820240 } Singapore 2056. | Internet : sgs@technet.sg } ------------------------------------------------------------------------- We keep everything on disk, and don't even use the tape drives. We archive to disk, compress the archive, and transfer it to disk on a remote node for off-site storage. I've done this both ways several times and it is very robust. We do the same thing with cpio for file systems (source code, etc). Just be *really sure* that you have enough space on the disk to hold the entire archive/log, if you don't then you will be in trouble. ;) __________________________________________________________________ | Clem Akins Standard Disclaimers Apply | |Reynolds Metals Co, Alloys Plant "Climb High, Cave Deep!" | | Muscle Shoals, Alabama USA cwakins@leia.alloys.rmc.com | |________________________________________________________________|
