As the recent discussion of a program for capitalization of names may have illustrated, this problem comes up again and again. Let's say I want my users to be able to search on a field that contains people's names. I can't count on them getting the capitalization exactly right , so I either have to keep two name fields, one with names upshifted for searching purposes, and one with varying caps. for display purposes (thereby wasting disk space and access time) , or make users access the data through a 4gl program that upshifts their search criterion and/or the data. This means my users can't use ace, perform, etc. I think this is a serious problem.
