Perform Data Ordering.

TO: Mark Trotter Query by Last Name, First Name, and Date. The answer to your question is, YES. This requires three "Query Statements" in the Query Command of the Perform Function, and modification of two fields in your table. First the table modification. 1. Open the TABLE and check for INDEXED fieldnames, the fieldnames for last_name and first_name must be indexed. 2. If they are not indexed then modify them to be indexed. You can use either DUPS or UNIQUE index, UNIQUE will permit only one like name to be added into the database. Now the query statement in the PERFORM function. 1. In the lastname field query by ">=A*" (NOTE: DO NOT USE THE QUOTES IN THE FIELD) 2. In the firstname field query by ">=A*" 3. In the date field query by the RANGE statement ":" Exanple: Last Name First Name Date Entered [f000 ] [f001 ] [f002 ] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Last Name First Name Date Entered [>=A* ] [>=A* ] [010192: ] 010192:123092 (This is the extension of datefield when the query exceeds the length of the field, it appears at the bottom of your terminal. This query will return all rows of all names between the dates of 1 Jan 1992 and 30 Dec 1992 sorted in Last Name and First Name order. Jones Roberet 02/21/92 Jones Zack 01/05/92 Smith Adam 11/10/92 Smith June 06/13/92 Smith Kathy 03/02/92 Etc, etc, etc. This works on my system fine, exccept I don't have enough people with the same common last name to sort on first name also. Hope this helps solve your problem. Michael S.
