isql or dbaccess??

Oh you great Informix gurus.... I need help,
You guys have been a really big help for us newbies, and I thank you.
But I have one more question. I am trying to write a report and of course the
Informix database is an old version (5.02) I have only a runtime version of isql
So it will not let me generate a report, and of course dbaccess will only let
you have 80 columns. Can anyone give me some insight as to how I might
be able to get a report that is 132 characters?
Thanks a bunch.

Get Jonathan Leffler's sqlcmd, turn on column headers and set the
delimiter to <tab>. If you want more powerful formatting keep the
delimiter as '|' and write a report formatter in awk or perl.

Oh great; let's hobble ourselves before we start and see how fast
we can get things done :-( Yes, I know it's not your fault, but
let's face it, the best way to get a job done is to use the right
tools, and the right tool is quite probably ACE, but that requires
the ISQL development system, not a runtime system.

There are awk scripts at the IIUG web site to flatten the output of
DB-Access; that may be a starting point. It depends on how fancy your
required output format is. It may be easier to upgrade to a 5.10
server (a good idea anyway for Y2K compliance) and to 4.20 ISQL,
except that you'd get the development version, not the runtime.
