Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., Memphis TN USA Is seeking a Data Base Engineer for a permanent position with our company. Position Summary Directly responsible for the configuration, planning, physical layout, architecture of the strategic databases located in the central computing facility. Planning, designing,configuring, and implementing the customer databases used for marketing, research, and guest recognition. Architecture planning required to implement the strategic and databases as well as planning and forecasting required to maintain their growth. Managing the relationships with software vendors to insure maximum availability of real-time production systems, proactive management of system software and issues, and first-class support of the business' goals and objectives, establishing guidelines for the development of database applications to include coding standards, database design standards, and benchmark criteria, in-depth analysis and problem solving of complex issues outside of the realm of daily system and database administration. Experience System or database administration on various UNIX or Informix platforms. Installing and maintaining licensed software such as the operating system, database management system, utilities, etc. Multiple programming environments using database languages such as SQL, SPL, ESQL/C. Minimum of 8 to 15 years of increasing responsibility in the operation and administration of database computing systems. Experience with production, mission-critical, and real-time systems. Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills. Proven skills for decision making and problem solving are required. Extensive experience in all aspects of database planning, design, implementation, tuning, and security. Experience with Data Warehouse concepts, products, and methods. Proven project management skills in order to deliver On Time, On Target, and On Budget. Education BS in Computer Science, Business Administration, MIS, Electrical Engineering; or equivalent experience. Informix product training (many to all courses). UNIX SVR4 systems administration training. Extensive training in database systems engineering, design, database modeling, entity relationship modeling, data warehousing concepts, and software disciplines.
