load_my_table.cmd:
FILE mytable.unl DELIMITER '|' 6; -- Number of fields in each file row
insert into mytable; -- Any valid insert
load_complex.cmd:
file first_part.unl delimiter '|' 4; -- First input file, some fields
insert into combined_table
values ( f01, f02, f04 ); -- some fields from file

Can anybody let me know what the syntax is for the dbload txt file for
delimited field data files. I am OK on fixed length but I'm having
trouble getting hold of the documentation. (tried a download from the
Informix site - twice - but it arrived corrupted).
TIA

dbload -d <database> -c <command file> -l <log file> -e <#errors> -n <block>
command file would contain:
FILE <data file> DELIMITER '|' <# of fields>;
INSERT INTO <table name>;
The '|' is specified here as the delimiter,
but you can chose any delimiter, '|' is most popular.

Thank you very much for this. I grumbled about the lost documentation
around the office yesterday and a rather sheepish team member
extracted it from the bottom of a drawer below, for all I know, a pile
of dirty mags.
Anyway, problem solved. Thanks.
