ESQL/C - Reuse a Cursor?

Does anyone know a way to reuse a cursor in an ESQL/C program? I have a standard report routine that fetches & formats & formats data from four group-by queries. The group-by queries work on same temp table. It would be convenient if I could declare a new group-by with the same cursor because the cursor and the routine are tightly linked, but Informix won't let me redeclare the same cursor for the next routines even after I have closed and freed the cursor.
