Poll threads again
Posted in 1998
Ok, so some say yes, some say no, and some are not clear on the question.
So here it is again in a different form.
If the sql hosts file has two entries for socket/tcp connections:
DBSERVER NETTYPE HOSTNAME SERVICES
server2 onsoctcp ibm1 infmx_service2
server3 onsoctcp ibm1 infmx_service3
And the onconfig
file has the following DBSERVERALIASES and NETTYPE entries:
DBSERVERALIASES server2, server3
NETTYPE soctcp,1,50,NET
Would the one poll thread listed in the onconfig file poll both services,
or would the NETTYPE have to be changed to allow for two poll threads?
In other words, how does the engine know to configure for both services?
The RTFM states that the engine spawns a listener thread for each
server name and alias listed in the onconfig file, but what about the poll
threads?
Thanks to everyone who responded last time around. I do appreciate it.
