DBPATH Not Working?

I am having a problem where the enviromental variable DBPATH cannot find SQL scripts and ACE reports. I am currently running Informix SE Version 5.02.UC6 on a Pyramid MIS4/4 running OSX 5.1a. If I go to the command line and do "echo $DBPATH", the command shows the correct paths. Any ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
