There's probably not much in it any more, but I am still convinced that: * UNIX is way more stable than NT * UNIX is inherently better designed to serve data * UNIX is less likely to undergo major architectural changes soon (unlike NT5.x) Ultimately, the issue is which you feel more comfortable with. There seems to be far less resistance to sticking with a working UNIX OS for many years without upgrading than with NT -- if you run NT, I suspect you'd spend far more time upgrading (and applying bug fixes... :-) > Could I port my 4gl, reports, etc .. to NT ? No. Well, maybe. There is no Informix-4GL or Informix-SQL to run 4GL programs or ACE reports on NT. There are, however, two products which will recompile Informix-4GL so it can run on NT/Win95 -- Querix ( http://www.querix.co.uk ) and 4J's ( http://www.4js.com ) AFAIK, there is no equivalent of Informix-SQL forms and reports on NT. > Does any one have any thoughts.
