Why several oninit processes in ver 6.0?

Informix Gurus, When we initialize Informix 6.0 using the oninit (or the tbinit) command, there are seven processes started. Any reason why so many? At present we are using Online 6.0 on a local machine only i.e the informix client is on the same machine as the Online engine. In the older version a single tbinit would be started. Also our application seems to be slower with ver 6.0. Has anyone noticed such a behaviour? Any and all responses on this matter appreciated. Thanx, Raj.
