This was due the fact that memory is more expensive than CPU. The Informix 19% throughput advantage was achieved on server hardware than was priced some 6% below the server hardware used in the Oracle test. The Informix test involved more users and therefore had a much larger number of client systems. The Oracle pricing also excluded all of the options which implement the useful features that are included as standard with Informix.
