: Is there a way to set a field buffer in the Informix 'Construct' : statement? : : I have a 'Construct' statement where I would like to default a field's : value, such as a year field. I can default the value easily enough, : but in exiting the 'Construct' statement, the field's value was not a : part of the constructed variable. : Chuck and Kevin: I'm assuming that this is what you tried: construct sql_filter from s_record.field1, s_record.field2 on table.column1, table.column2 before construct display default_val to s_record.field2 end construct and this didn't work. I don't know if that's what you mean by defaulting. This works for me. But, if for some reason it doesn't, how about construct sql_filter from s_record.field1, s_record.field2 on table.column1, table.column2 after construct if not field_touched (field2) then let sql_filter = sql_filter clipped, " and table.column2 = ", default_val end if This should work too ...
