Re: sqlhosts - valid entries ???

Although I come from a Windows NT environment, I might be able to share a little bit of wisdom. I will (unfortunately) need to speak in "Windows NT-speak" so I hope you are able to translate into AIX =) I run Informix Online Dynamic Server on NT4.0 (version 7.23 of the database) and the Database "service" would not start, nor (when started) would it "stay started." I found that the online.log error log was reporting exactly the same thing yours is. Something like error number -27004 And it had something to do with an improper setting in the SQLHOSTS file. I'm new to all this so I did a bit of research (hopefully enough) into the SQLHOSTS file and found that the "options" parameter should have been blank. In the Windows NT registry, this value was *not* blank but instead had something weird in it like "sion=020c" Because, to me, that looked like the latter half of something like "version=020c" it seemed that something had corrupted that Option parameter. I cleared the value and the database worked fine again. Hope that helps, but please keep in mind I'm very new to this and just sharing my experience.
